Freescale Electronic Water Softener,

How does the unit work, with modern electronics the FREESCALE unit generates via the signal cable wound around the water pipe a modulated pulsed
current that forms an electrical field through which the hard water has to pass. Due to variations in water flow, temperature and the amount of calcium
dissolved the electronics thus produces a complex oscillating field that will cover all the necessary de-scaling conditions.
Is the water safe, all chemical water softeners requiring frequent additions of salt to produce soft water that is NOT recommended for drinking. With the
FREESCALE providing a non-chemical solution this water is safe to drink, the taste is not effected and it also will reduce bacteria levels by removing
the breeding grounds and nourishment source of the bacteria within the system.
Is the unit easy to fit, the unit is simple to install, it requires fitting to a wall near to the water pipe and then the signal lead is wound 10 12 times
around the pipe and fixed into position, requiring NO water disconnection or fitting into the supply.
What is the principle, with hard water passing through the pulsed oscillating field the Calcium Carbonate ( or lime scale as it is better known ) and other
mineral ions are agitated by the continual change of the field and therefore forced to precipitate into insoluble crystals. These crystals have very little
adhesive properties the solubility of the water is then increased, and therefore existing scale will be dissolved back into the water and gradually removed.
The FREESCALE unit will therefore remove scale from already badly scaled systems.
Designed for safety, the unit is supplied in a plastic sealed unit with a clear hinged door sealed to IP65 specification and quality electronic components
have been selected to withstand the harsh conditions experienced close to damp cold water pipes.
How powerful, the unit has three power settings allowing de-scaling up to 50 mm
( 2 inch ) diameter pipe, most applications need the maximum setting for the first few months to aid removal of old scale from the system, after this period
the unit can then be set to the recommended power
setting for the pipe size and water flow.
What are the cost savings, in a moderate hard water area 2 mm of lime scale will form in 9 months, this layer of lime scale formed will reduce energy
efficiency within the system by 10%. The thermal conductivity of
calcium carbonate is 4,000 times less than that of copper, even the smallest layer is an efficient insulator, just think what effect this layer of scale will have
on heating elements and pumps, also causing the narrowing pipes and the blocking jets.
What are the running costs, the unit uses little energy so will only consume around 4 GBP per year of electricity, therefore lime scale need no longer be a
problem with a FREESCALE unit.
